Bigger, Better, Darker, Lighter!
Update: The first photo, from Google, didn't work well. I bought this one from Istock Photo with my one credit, had to choose an entirely different template to deal with the tall shape of the picture, and it's still not all kosher, but we're getting there. Bigger fish to fry, so as time allows, but I do love that little girl digging in the dirt with the stick. Reminds me of myself when I was about that age.
See that little girl, I like her a LOT, I just wish she'd grow up a bit, or at least get a bit bigger. You can't even see her little chicken. And that green, I had something more Kiwi-ish in mind, my absolute favorite color in the whole world, but today is THE DAY - I'm about to go put on my nasty 'color my hair paint the fence hang wallpaper scrub baseboards' outfit and tear into the basement. DH let me know that in order to put up a wall in my quilting studio (did I tell you he's putting up a wall, and a six foot closet to hold my 'stash'?!, did I tell you I have a quilting studio? yes I think I did to the latter, but the current 'wall' is a floor to ceiling curtain and we're going with the sheetrock option.) Anyway, in order to put up a wall he has to build it with 2 x 4's on the basement floor and that, he pointed out, means I have to TAKE EVERYTHING OUT OF THE ROOM!!!!!!!!!!! Someone grab a paper sack because I'm pretty sure I'm hyperventilating. I don't even have the Christmas paper put away and I have to drag out the cabbage patches, leggos, luggage, camping equipment, golf clubs, wedding gowns, patio furniture, extra vacuum, old football equipment, coolers, barbie clothes, love letters, hate letters, old loans, tax returns, go to the beach stuff, 99 cans of paint - you get my drift.
So, anyway I don't have the time right now to figure out how to grow her and her chicken up or make her surroundings more aesthetically pleasing.
But I will. I told my yarn store I'd help them develop their new blog template, and I'm suspecting the yarn shop owner would like the shot of her little shop to be a bit bigger than my little girl. Unless she's just trying to attract customers with really good eyesight, versus those who squint. Maybe during one of the 2 or 20 peanut butter cookie and milk breaks I'm suspecting I'll be taking I'll hit on the answer. I used to know and I'm hoping it will come back to me.So new template, but the results aren't quite so great - yet.
Sidenote, I called Vietnam Vets last week, and they're coming today to pick up the first load of excess out of this house. I plan to have them come every week in January, and every month of this year. No free garage sale this year, rather I'm just giving it all away to a good cause, and we're going to enjoy a less cluttered nest.
When I went to sewing yesterday (which is always a hoot and we threaten to turn ourselves into a reality TV show) one of the girls walked in. She used to be a hairdresser, and she looked at me, said "your hair is different?"
"Why yes it is! I just applied fresh color."
"I like it better lighter." (Which was, BTW, my favorite comment of the day. Her honesty cracked me up.)
"Well, this is the color it is this week. Maybe by next week, after I wash it a few times) it'll be a bit lighter."
Ditto for my template.
A few hours down there in that basesment and I may pull out that too-dark hair of mine. And of course I'm going to take pictures. As sweet DIL Janae would say, "I'm all about recording lives."
