I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting someone special yesterday. Andrea at Decipher the Fog, emailed me a few days ago to say she was going to be traveling very near my home, and would I be willing to meet her for a quick lunch? Absolutely! I told her to watch for someone dressed a bit like a referee, driving a champagne-colored gas hog, at the local McDonalds. I pulled in, and waited for someone with Ohio plates to pull up, and sure enough there she was! A minivan full of travel-weary people, being driven by a husband gracious enough to pull off the highway for us to meet each other.

I not only got to meet Andrea and her husband, I had the pleasure of dining with her daughter and son, and learning the story of Kung Fu Panda to boot! It was very sweet to see this person who, face to face, was a perfect stranger, but still we felt like we knew each other a bit, for having read each other's blogs, reading what was on our hearts. Andrea's daughter was gracious enough to entertain her brother in Playland while we tried to fit a whole friendship into one fast-food lunch, and we didn't do such a bad job. After about an hour together, I felt like I knew her much better, we talked of subjects, light and deep, and when we hugged goodbye, I thought how much I will now enjoy going over to read what she has to share. Staying in touch through reading blogs - nice. Meeting in real life - wonderful! Thank you, sweet Andrea, for taking the time at the end of your trip for the best time I've ever had at a McDonalds.
